102学年度第学期课程名称(中文)课程名称(英文)授 课 教 师修 别□必修 □选修课 码学分数教学目标The contemporary philosophy gets much influence from the study of formal logic, which in turn ha its modern shape from the investigation of the foundation of mathematics. From the end of the nieen century to the beginning of the last century, we see the thriving of the foundational study, which gets its important technical results and philosophical insights from prestigious philosophers and mathematicians such as Frege, Hilbert, Brouwer, Church and then Gdel. In this course we will study this most fruitful period in the history of the development of mathematical logic and the foundation of mathematics from a text book written by a distinguished logician, S. C. Kleene, one of Church's students, who are personally involved in the development. We hope through the study of this classical textbook, students can get a prehensive overview of the topics, issues, questions and technical results of this branch of study and lay a fundamental ground for their further pursuit in either logic or philosophy in general. 授 课 纲 plan in this semester to go through mainly the Part III, recursive functions, and, if time permitted, part of the Part IV, mathematical logic (additional topics), of the book.
